Richie Strahan breaks silence over Alex Nation

It's the tea we have been waiting for to be spilled and now Richie Strahan has finally opened up to why his relationship with Alex Nation went south.

While Alex flaunts her new romance, and reported new engagement to girlfriend Maegan Luxe, the 32-year-old former Bachelor tells New Idea the last few months have been "the most difficult, crazy and confusing time", adding their relationship breakdown was "heartbreaking".

"Having something wonderful dissolve the way it did was heartbreaking," Richie tells the mag. "But at the same time, there was a lot of relief that the emotional roller-coaster was finally over."

Diving deeper, Richie also shares that he was "making a lot of sacrifices", including selling his Perth home with the hopes of relocating to Melbourne where Alex was based with her son, but the constant travelling back and forth "was exhausting".

And while he was more than happy to spill the tea on their relationship ending, Richie was still coy over the EXACT reason they called it quits.

"Tough question," he said when asked what was the cause behind their split. "I guess the brightest spark can fizzle fast. We made some bad choices back in June and our relationship really struggled to recover for months after.

"It didn't matter how much effort I put into it - sometimes these things are destined to fail," he added.

Sadly Richie doesn't spill any further detail, but does tell the outlet he hopes Alex is "really happy" in her new relationship with Maegan.

Despite the union ending, Richie also admitted he did fall in love with Alex, and while he's open to finding love again, he doubts he'll find it on another reality TV show.
