Aussies score Golden Globes nominations

It's another Aussie invasion at next year's Golden Globe Awards, with Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie and Hugh Jackman all getting nods.

Robbie received a nom for Best Comedy/Musical Actress for her latest biopic flick I, Tonya, which is currently getting rave reviews for her portrayal - and amazing physical transformation - into disgraced figure skater Tonya Harding.

The 27-year-old actress also co-produced the black comedy, which follows the ultra-competitive skater and her involvement in the attack on skating rival Nancy Kerrigan before the 1994 Winter Olympics.

The HBO hit is also up for six nominations with Reese Witherspoon getting a nod for Best Actress, Alexander Skarsgård up for Best Supporting Actor and Laura Dern and Shailene Woodley both up for Best Supporting Actress.

Kidman also released a statement to the LA Times, praising her co-stars and saying she was "grateful" for the recognition.

"We are all aware of how rare it is for a show and its cast to be honored in such a huge way, and we are all incredibly grateful," the statement reads. "Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press for giving the show so much love.

"It was made with love, guided by the incredible David E. Kelley and Jean-Marc Vallée as well as my partners in passion Reese Witherspoon, Per Saari and Bruna Papandrea. The character Celeste is so precious to me and the recognition is deeply appreciated."

Hugh Jackman has been nominated for his latest film The Greatest Showman, with the Aussie getting a nod in the Best Comedy/Musical Actor category. The flick, which also stars Zac Efron, opens in Australia on Boxing Day, with the pair walking the red carpet at the Sydney premiere next week.

Of course there were some noticeable snubs from the awards, with The Big Sick,Wonder Woman, andMudbound failing to get a nod.

Seth Meyers will host the 75th Golden Globe Awards on Monday, January 8, 2018.
