Kris Smith's special wish this Christmas

Christmas is often a special time of the year, and that's certainly the case for Kris Smith who is looking forward to introducing his girlfriend Sarah Boulazeris to seven-year-old son Ethan for the first time this December.

And given his strong focus on family during the festive season, the model and TV star has also collaborated with Oxfam, to help give back to impoverished families abroad during the holiday period.

Speaking to Be, the 39-year-old says "there’s so many kids and families that don’t know Christmas is because they’ve never experienced it".

He also speaks about his own family dynamic, given he and ex Dannii Minogue share time with Ethan, with Kris travelling back and forth from Sydney to Melbourne to see his young son.

"Look it’s not very conventional," he says of the family situation. "But sadly it’s very, very popular nowadays," he adds.

And for Kris, being involved in with the Oxfam Gift Hub puts things into perspective, and is a reminder that there's other families out there who are facing far more challenging circumstances.

"There’s so many kids and families that don’t know Christmas is because they’ve never experienced it," he tells Be.

"It’s pretty saddening that some people won’t even have running water at that time of year, let alone the knowledge of what Christmas is actually all about. That’s the real selling point for me," he says of collaborating with the charity.

As for his own Christmas plans, Kris is looking forward to introducing his girlfriend of a few months, personal trainer Sarah, to son Ethan for the first time.

"We’re still getting to know each other about everything," he gushes to Be about his new lady love.

"We’re really enjoying each other’s company and time. She’s a very special person in my life and this year I get to spend Christmas with her and Ethan."

On Saturday Kris will be at the Oxfam Gift Hub at Broadway shopping centre in Sydney, encouraging fans to make a donation as small as $10 that can go a long way in helping global communities around the world, providing them with live animals, seeds and vegetables, water tanks and more in countries such as Zimbabwe, Bangladesh, Vietnam and Vanuatu.
