Paul Hogan: 'I knew Harvey Weinstein was a grub'

Australian legend Paul Hogan has weighed in on the Hollywood sex scandal, saying he's been "staggered" by the goings on in the industry and fears for his granddaughter, who works in the business.

The 78-year-old was talking to The Daily Telegraph about the recent expose of powerful men in the industry, including movie mogul Harvey Weinstein, US Today host Matt Lauer and Oscar winner Kevin Spacey.

“There’s so many people being exposed that you never expected,” Paul told the publication, adding he fears for his granddaughter Mylee who is a TV reporter for Channel 7.

"If I find out someone out there is hassling her, I’d go out and kick their a*se," he said. "They shouldn't have to put up with that."

However, there was one heavyweight the Crocodile Dundee star was not surprised to hear had been accused.

“I was staggered at the creepiness of people in Hollywood,” Paul said. “I knew Harvey Weinstein was a grub … no one was shocked about Harvey.”

The accusations of sexual misconduct against Harvey Weinstein which first broke in The New York Times, lifted the lid on the shocking abuse of power in the industry.

Since then countless men and women have come forward with horrendous stories of abuse, manipulation and even assault, something which appears to have been accepted as part of the job until now.

Several high profile names including Ashley Judd, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lawrence, and Rebel Wilson have come forward in recent months to open up about their experiences with sexual assault and harassment in the industry.
