Hugh Jackman 'reverse trash-talks' to us on red carpet

He may have been named the 'Sexiest Man Alive' in the past, but Hugh Jackman prefers to dish out the compliments to others whenever he can.

While appearing on the red carpet at the Sydney premiere of his latest film The Greatest Showman, the Australian actor chose to gush about none other than yours truly, all in the name of some fun "reverse trash-talking".

It comes after the 49-year-old sent the internet into a meltdown earlier this week, after he did the same thing to John Cena on a talk show - basically speaking to the wrestler in an aggressive way, but actually saying only positive things while doing that.

When Hugh stopped by on the red carpet to chat to Be, I challenged him to a little role play once again. And the award-winning star happily obliged.

"You think you can say all these really nice, complimentary things there in your beautiful dress looking amazing at the premiere?" he began, his eyes staring into mine (is this even real life?).

"You're here pre-Christmas, your career's going amazing, you're just incredible," he continued.

"Do you understand me? You are amazing."

Well, if you say so. I mean, 'Hugh' am I to argue with that?

The movie star says he couldn't be prouder of the film, especially since it's a movie musical.

"For me, seven-and-a-half years ago, I'd done musicals on stage," Hugh explained to Be on the red carpet.

"I found myself in a lot of movies which was a big surprise to me and I thought, 'Wow I'd love to do a movie musical' and there didn't seem to be a lot of people around at the time who could do that. And there didn't seem [to be] a lot of studios who would do that.

"So it took us seven-and-a-half years to get this one going and I'm really grateful to Fox that they took a bet on this," he continued.

"It'd been 23 years since a studio had said yes to an original movie musical. So I love the risk, I like taking risks."

The Greatest Showman, also starring the likes of Zac Efron and Zendaya, will hit cinemas in Australia on December 26.
