Exclusive: Hugh Jackman's skin cancer regret

With the warmer weather kicking in Down Under, Australian actor Hugh Jackman is urging all fans to protect themselves in their sun, after he faced his sixth skin cancer scare earlier this year.

Speaking to Be at theThe Greatest Showman premiere in Sydney on Wednesday, the 49-year-old movie star said his negligence to look after himself in his early years, has led to him having multiple surgeries to remove suspicious moles.

"Don’t be like me," he said on the red carpet. "Wear sunscreen, I’m the idiot who didn’t wear sunscreen at all."

"I have English parents but it doesn’t matter actually what skin type you are, everyone is susceptible and you know, just be smart," he continued.

"It’s the most preventable disease in the world so do not take my example or you can take my example now and wear sunscreen."

The actor, who is back in his home country to promote his new film The Greatest Showman, decided to make the most of the sunny Aussie weather on Thursday morning after the big red carpet event.

He was seen emerging from the surf at Bondi Beach in all his shirtless glory, and we're pretty certain he would have slapped on some sunscreen before taking a dip.

Back in February, Hugh shared a photo of himself with a bandage plastered across his nose.

"Another basal cell carcinoma," he wrote next to the image.

"Thanks to frequent body checks and amazing doctors, all is well. Looks worse with the dressing on than off. I swear! #wearsunscreen," he added.

That was the sixth time the father-of-two had treatment for the cancerous cell, after he first got a small spot on his nose checked out in 2013, at the request of his wife of 20 years, Deborra-Lee Furness.
