When it comes to making a marriage announcement, via an Instagram post is probably the most 2018 way possible.
This was the method of choice for Ellen Page, who just (unexpectedly) announced she has married her partner Emma Portner, sharing the news in a truly adorable series of images.
“I can’t believe I get to call this incredible woman my wife,” she captioned the photos.
Not much is known about the relationship of 30-year-old Ellen and her choreographer and dancer wife. The couple hasn’t spoken extensively to media. They have however posted a series of couple-goal worthy shots across their social media accounts.
What we do know however is that Emma Portner is a teacher at the Broadway Dance Center, and "her performances and choreography appear in Justin Bieber’s ‘Life is Worth Living’ video as well as on his Purpose World Tour."
The couple made their first public appearance together in September, after Ellen brought her wife as a date to the premiere of her film Flatliners.
In 2014, Ellen came out as gay at a Human Rights Campaign event in a speech that earned her a standing ovation. Her hope was that her experience would inspire other people struggling with their sexuality.
