Winners and Losers: Aussies at the Golden Globes
Nicole Kidman was the only Australian to come away with a win at the 75th annual 2018 Golden Globe Awards in the US.
The 50-year-old star was recognised as Best Actress in a TV Movie or Limited series for her role as Celeste Wright in Big Little Lies.
She went on to add a second award later in the ceremony as Big Little Lies, for which she is a producer, taking out the prize for best limited series or TV movie. Nicole stood alongside fellow Aussie Bruna Papandrea on stage as the team accepted the award.
Australia's other Hollywood golden girl Margot Robbie didn't fair so well, missing out on the award for Best Actress in a Movie - Musical/Comedy for her role in I, Tonya. The globe instead went to Saorise Ronan for Lady Bird.
Fellow Australian Hugh Jackman also missed out on a win for Best Actor in a comedy/musical category for playing PT Barnum in The Greatest Showman.
The award went instead to James Franco for The Disaster Artist.
Geoffrey Rush faired no better in the category of Best Actor in a limited series or TV movie. He was up for his role as Albert Einstein in Genius, but the gong went to Ewan McGregor instead for his role in Fargo.

Nicole Kidman
Nicole's two wins come as no surprise, with two potential chances for success coming from starring in and producing the TV miniseries, Big Little Lies.
The Sydney-based actress took out the best actress in a limited TV series award for her role as an abused mother.
Big Little Lies also came up against another Kidman project, Jane Campion’s Australian-shot Top of the Lake: China Girl in the mini-series category.
Margot Robbie
Margot's hopes of bagging an Oscar likely rested on how today went. She was up for her role as US Olympic figure skater Tonya Harding in I, Tonya.
Unfortunately it was bad news for Margot, with Saorise Ronan (Lady Bird) - dubbed as her biggest threat pre ceremony - took out the award for best actress in a movie - musical/comedy.
She was also up for an award as a producer for I, Tonya, a nominee for best movie - musical/comedy. But Lady Bird won that gong as well, spelling a disappointing end to the night for Margot.
Hugh Jackman
Everyone's favourite export Hugh Jackman was up for Best Actor in a comedy/musical category for playing PT Barnum in The Greatest Showman.
However the award went to James Franco for The Disaster Artist.
The winning actor thanks his 'brother' Hugh and the other nominees as part of his acceptance speech.
Geoffrey Rush
Geoffrey Rush was another Aussie nominated at this year's Gold Globes, this time for Best Actor in a limited series or TV movie category for playing Albert Einstein in Genius.
But the veteran actor missed out on adding another gong to his shelf with the award instead going to Ewan McGregor for Fargo.
Katherine Langford
Perth local Katherine's star continues to rise with her nomination for best performance by an actress in a TV series for the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why. However the 21 year-old actress missed out on the win, with Elisabeth Moss taking out the Globe for her role in Handmaid's Tale.
Bruna Papandrea
Australia’s Bruna Papandrea win the Globe for best mini-series alongside Nicole Kidman and the team for Big Little Lies.
Samara Weaving
Former Home & Away star Samara Weaving made an unexpected appearance on-stage at the Golden Globes when her film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri won the coveted Best Picture award. Samara plays Penelope in the crime film which has been applauded by critics.
