Jessica Rowe calls stars 'dumb' for wearing black at Golden Globes

The stars attending this year's Golden Globes took a stand together wearing black following the recent sexual assault and harassment allegations which rocked Hollywood but it seems not everyone is impressed with the move.

Aussie presenter Jessica Rowe branded the decision as "dumb" as she expressed her views on Studio 10 on Monday. Watch the clip above.

"It is wonderful women are finding their voice, that we are speaking up," she said. "But to me it is dumb to wear black on the red carpet."

"Just don't do it," the 47-year-old added. "They’re still going to be wearing designer black, they’re going to still be looking gorgeous and wonderful."

Jessica also called the move from Hollywood stars "tokenistic".

"To me, it is tokenistic and it’s not a good way of sending the right message," she said.

She went on to suggest a better act against sexual harassment would have been to boycott the event altogether or celebrities should have opted to wear colours of "defiance" such as red or purple.

Her co-host Joe Hildebrand also agreed with her calling the fashion blackout "strange".

Almost all the celebrities, both male and female, at this year's star-studded Golden Globes wore black as an act against sexual assault and harassment.

Many male celebrities including Chris Hemsworth, Justin Timberlake, James Franco and Ansel Elgort also wore "Times Up" pins in support of equal pay and the campaign against sexual harassment in all workplaces.
