Watch: Craig McLachlan playing a sexual predator on screen

As he strongly denies allegations of sexual harassment and indecent assault on the set of The Rocky Horror Show in 2014, footage of Craig McLachlan playing a sexual predator on The Wrong Girl in 2016 has resurfaced.

The now 52-year-old actor portrays breakfast television host Eric Albrectson on the Channel Ten drama, a character who makes a series of sexual jokes towards colleague Lily Woodward, played by Jessica Marais, in the first season.

A scene in the season's third episode shows Marais' character Lily telling Eric she feels uncomfortable after he unbuttons his shirt in front of her at work, before leaning over her shoulder and making inappropriate jokes.

The first sequence shows Lily, Eric's producer, talking him and celebrity chef Jack Winters (played by Rob Collins) through their upcoming segment about fitness tracking devices.

"Just in terms of privacy, will the audience be able to tell if we’re intimate with someone?" McLachlan's character Eric then asks.

Sensing Lily's feeling uncomfortable, Jack chimes in: "Just take it off before you go to bed mate".

To this Eric responds: "Might not be limited to the bedroom Jack.

"I’m kidding, I’m so kidding," he continues, before adding, "not really".

When Jess' character Lily asks both the men to put the tracking devices on, Eric immediately begins unbuttoning his shirt. But the device simply needs to be wrapped around his wrist.

"No Eric, it’s ok. You don’t need to take your shirt off," says Lily.

"Lily would you mind just popping it on there?" Eric then asks her, leaning right over her shoulder.

"Yep, um ok so if you just want to have a look at the display, you should be able to see steps taken, distance, calories, heart rate," Lily explains of the device's functionality.

And then Eric drops another comment, saying: "Might be experiencing a minor surge in that department right now.

"I’m kidding," he then laughs. "I’m so kidding. Not really, anyway continue."

Later in the episode Lily tells Eric his behaviour in the workplace makes her feel uncomfortable.

"Lily, you and I have been working together for years. I hope if you ever had an issue you’d just say so," Eric says to her.

"Alright, I’m saying so," Lily responds.

"It’s an issue. Your sexually loaded jokes make me uncomfortable. I’m sorry I didn’t say anything earlier."

Taken aback by this, a shocked Eric then tells his producer he wants the fitness segment to be dropped from the show.

The Wrong Girl also stars actress Christie Whelan Browne, who has come forward and accused Craig of sexual harassment and indecent assault on the set of The Rocky Horror Show in 2014 - allegations he has strongly denied.

Taking to Twitter on Tuesday, Whelan addressed critics who asked why she agreed to work with McLachlan on the TV show two years after the alleged incident.

"Would you prefer I gave up my first regular role in a tv show- a job that is incredible hard to get? And let him keep working and me not?" she wrote.

McLachlan has vehemently denied all accusations of sexual misconduct made against him, saying they are “baseless” and “seem to be simple inventions, perhaps made for financial reasons, perhaps to gain notoriety”.

He has stepped down from his role in the current production of The Rocky Horror Show pending investigations, with the production company issuing a statement that they were not aware of the allegations.

“We take these allegations very seriously, and have always endeavoured to prioritise a safe working environment,” the statement from Gordon Frost Organisation said.

“We can also confirm that our records show the claimants at no time made any complaint - formal or informal - to the company manager or executive producer of The Rocky Horror Show in 2014.

“Furthermore no one at GFO recalls any verbal discussion of this nature. It would be distressing to us if anyone within our company was dismissive of sexual assault allegations, and this will form a part of our internal investigation.”

Describing one alleged encounter with the Gold Logie winner while performing a live show in 2014, Whelan Browne told the ABC, “I had to be on stage with him in a bed, an upright bed, and I was wearing just bra, undies and garter and… he was pretending to go down on me, that was the scene.”

"But he was directed to kiss down my neck, down my arm and then go down, out of sight. But he would always kiss down my breasts and continue to kiss all the way down until I would have to sort of move and wriggle away.

"I had to turn facing away from him and one night he pulled my underpants to the side so that my right butt cheek was out and he was kissing all around it.”

Actresses Erika Heynatz, and Angela Scundi, who both starred in the same production of The Rocky Horror Show, also came forward and lay accusations against McLachlan.
