Ewan McGregor's estranged wife reacts to his Golden Globes speech

Ewan McGregor's estranged wife was not impressed with his Golden Globes speech, where he thanked both her and his current girlfriend.

The 46-year-old started dating his 'Fargo' co-star Mary Elizabeth Winstead last year following his split from Eve Mavrakis after 22 years of marriage.

But Eve, 51, has revealed she was unhappy when he mentioned them in his thank you's after scooping the award for Best Actor in a Limited Series on Sunday night.

"No, I did not like his speech," she told the Daily Mail, adding, "I am not going to say any more."

The Scottish father-of-four had raised a few eyebrows when he thanked Eve whilst on-stage, collecting his gong.

"I want to take a moment to say thank you to Eve," he said. "Who always stood by me for 22 years. To my four children, Clara, Ester, Jamyan and Anouk, I love you."

He then went on to talk about how much he loved being an actor, taking care to thank those in the industry who helped him achieve success, which is when he mentioned his new girlfriend.

"There would be no Ray without Mary Elizabeth Winstead," he said. "So thank you very much."

Ewan and Eve split up seven months ago and his romance with Mary was revealed soon afterwards.

"Ewan and Eve were a very affectionate and loving couple, but it all changed over the summer," a source told the Daily Mail. "It was very abrupt."

"He came back from 'Fargo' and it was clear he and Mary had become close," they continued. "He insisted that nothing physical happened between them and Eve accepted that."

They went on to say the pair tried to make their marriage work, but just a month later it was clear "Ewan had made his decision" and they split.

Eve and Ewan tied the knot in 1995 and he has previously gushed about his wife in interviews.

Despite his new romance, the Trainspotting star opted to walk the red carpet at the bash solo, which social media have suggested was a mark of respect for his two-decade long relationship.

Others however, were just plain gobsmacked.
