Emotional Nicole Kidman accepts SAG Award

Nicole Kidman has continued her domination of Hollywood awards season for her role in Big Little Lies with another win, this time at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.

The Aussie actress' award show haul also includes an Emmy, Golden Globe, and Broadcast Film Critics wins for playing a physically, sexually and psychologically abused wife in the TV mini-series.

Nic, 50, beat Big Little Lies co-stars Laura Dern and Reese Witherspoon as well as Feud: Bette & Joan stars Jessica Lange and Susan Sarandon for the SAG on Sunday at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles.

The mum-of-four paid tribute to her fellow nominees and other Hollywood leading actresses including Judi Dench, Jane Fonda and Meryl Streep in her emotional acceptance speech.

Through her tears, she said it was wonderful that actresses' careers could extend beyond their 40th birthday.

"Twenty years ago we were pretty washed up at this stage in our lives," she said. "That's not the case now."

"We have proven we are potent, powerful and viable," she went on... adding it was "extraordinary” to receive the accolade at "this stage" in her life.

Three Billboards star, Frances McDormand, is already the owner of a Triple Crown of Acting (she scooped an Oscar in '96, a Tony Award in 2001, and an Emmy in 2015) but she's now added to her collection with the SAG for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor.

Her co-star Sam Rockwell won the male category for Outstanding Performance, suggesting the pair could also win big at The Oscars later in the year.

While our very own Margot Robbie didn't take home a new ornament for her mantlepiece for her role in I, Tonya, her co-star actress Allison Janney won best supporting actress.

British actress Claire Foy took home an accolade for her portrayal of The Queen in Netflix's The Crown, beating favourite Elisabeth Moss for The Handmaid's Tale in the best actress in a drama series.
