George Clooney finally reveals how he met Amal
Three years after they first said 'I Do' in a romantic Italian ceremony, George Clooney has finally revealed exactly how he met his high-profile wife, Amal.
With the Ocean's Eleven actor being ingrained in the world of Hollywood, it had always been a bit of a mystery as to how he'd met the successful human rights barrister.
But in a chat with David Letterman on his new Netflix show, he told the host she visited his house in Lake Como with a mutual friend in 2013.
“It was the wildest thing, a mutual friend was stopping by and asked ‘can I bring my friend’, and I said ‘of course’,” George says, adding his parents were also staying at the house.
Not long after, the 56-year-old says, "I got a call from my agent who called me and said, 'I met this woman who’s coming to your house who you’re gonna marry.'"
Sure enough the pair hit it off, with George admitting they "stayed up all night talking".
"I got her email address, because she was going to send me some pictures of my parents.," he said. "So we started writing. I didn’t know if she wanted to go out with me — I just thought we were buddies."
It wasn't until later that The Batman & Robin star discovered Amal was a very successful lawyer, who specialised in international law and human rights.
She’d had clients such as the founder of Wikileaks Julian Assange, and the former prime minister of Ukraine, Yulia Tymoshenko.
The pair are now married and have eight-month-old twins, Ella and Alexander.
Before meeting George had been regarded as one of Hollywood's most eligible bachelor's, regularly topping People magazine's top 50 list.
