Sophie Monk is working on becoming a mum

Sophie Monk's season of The Bachelorette captured the hearts of many, as we watched the love story between millionaire publican Stu Laundy and the bubbly blonde unfold last year.

Now that journey has come to a sad end, 38-year-old Sophie is being realistic about her options for becoming a mum, and in an emotional interview with A Current Affair says she's starting the process of freezing her eggs.

"I'd love to be a mum," she shared, "I think I'm going to have to freeze eggs at this point which I'm willing to do and I'm looking into right now."

The singer continued, "I've made a plan, it's just the injections and all that stuff fitting into the schedule, we're looking into it now."

Her use of the pronoun 'we' in that sentence, sparked speculation Sophie had already moved on with another person, but she clarified to Be that she is in fact still single.

Instead, she said she wants to meet a 'hot tradie' and still believes her true love fairy tale is coming.

Meanwhile, Sophie shared that while she only announced her break-up at the end of January, she and Stu actually split while spending Christmas and New Year in Canada.

“I think when you go on holiday with someone you really get to know someone and it was just yeah," she told ACA, "It got to the point that, again all I can say is that we’re just very different people."

"You clash when you've got different morals."

The emotional interview comes after a Network Ten spokesperson told Be last month, “We are very sorry to hear that Sophie Monk and Stu Laundy have separated and wish them both the very best for the future.”

"Across eight seasons of The Bachelor Australia and The Bachelorette Australia, four couples have found love and have remained together after the cameras have stopped rolling.

"Our thanks to Sophie and Stu, who genuinely committed to finding love on The Bachelorette Australia, but sadly in life, some relationships are not always lasting."
