Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux's 'struggle'
Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux were living completely separate lives for a year before they officially parted ways.
The pair — who officially announced their two-year marriage was over last week — had a far from normal marriage with Jen, 49, living in LA while Justin resided in New York, according to a report in The Sun.
"It was never your typical marriage," a friend told the publication, explaining the couple's unusual long-distance relationship.
"In the beginning he'd fly over to LA to visit Jen but in the past 12 months he barely went over," they said. "It's sad but that's the way it was - Justin has hardly mentioned Jen at all to the people he hangs out with - it's almost like he was not even married."
"Ultimately they just grew apart."
Jen and Justin officially called time on their marriage on Friday, saying their decision to separate 'was mutual and lovingly made at the end of last year,' according to the Friends star's publicist, Stephen Huvane.
The pair — who became engaged in 2012 and married in August 2015 — insisted they were still 'two best friends who have decided to part ways as a couple, but look forward to continuing our cherished friendship.'
It comes after speculation that the Friends star was reuniting with her ex-Brad Pitt after nearly 13 years apart.
Their continued separation 'pressure on them as a couple' the report added, with another source saying 'it was a struggle for them both.'
