'Utterly ridiculous': JLaw defends skimpy dress scandal

Jennifer Lawrence has defended the controversy surrounding the revealing dress she wore in the cold British weather, calling the double standard claims 'utterly ridiculous'.

In the snap, Jen, 27, is wearing a revealing gown with a high-high split and plunging neckline, while her male co-stars are all dressed in jumpers and coats.

The picture was pulled out as an example of Hollywood’s sexism, showing the different vastly expectations placed upon men and women when it comes to how they look.

But the Hunger Games star has now spoken out to rubbish the ‘ridiculous’ claims, defending her choice to wear the revealing outfit.

The actor said the controversy was a distraction from real issues.

"Wow. I don’t really know where to get started on this ‘Jennifer Lawrence wearing a revealing dress in the cold’ controversy," she wrote on her Facebook page.

"This is not only utterly ridiculous, I am extremely offended. That Versace dress was fabulous, you think I’m going to cover that gorgeous dress up with a coat and a scarf? I was outside for 5 minutes."

JLaw — who is never scared to say what she really thinks — then went on to say that she 'would have stood in the snow for that dress' because the self-proclaimed fashion lover' said 'that was my choice'.

"This is sexist, this is ridiculous, this is not feminism," she added.

"Over- reacting about everything someone says or does, creating controversy over silly innocuous things such as what I choose to wear or not wear, is not moving us forward".

"It’s creating silly distractions from real issues. Get a grip people. Everything you see me wear is my choice. And if I want to be cold THATS MY CHOICE TOO!"

Her co-star Joel Edgerton has also spoken out about the saga, telling Yahoo Movies UK, "I did see [the Twitter backlash], it was pretty funny but look, I don’t know if it’s double standards."

"It’s weird because on the one hand if you criticise her for looking that way than you are also criticising the whole volume of…the whole history of the way women are expected to look. It’s sort of a lose-lose situation.

"Yesterday, on the balcony, seemed like a lose-lose situation because if Jennifer wore jeans and a coat I’m sure somebody else would have criticised her.

"At some point it seemed like the weather was blamed because it was the optics, plus the weather, plus the four of us in our outfits; the sum total of all of it was like a f**king international incident!"

The news follows the Red Sparrow star admitting she's now 'comfortable' doing nude scenes, after previously saying they'd given her anxiety.

She also accidentally flashed at her BFF Amy Schumer's wedding, when she suffered an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction.
