JLaw says she's 'not in same category' as Weinstein victims
Jennifer Lawrence has put herself in a different 'category' to the sexual harassment and sexual assault victims of Harvey Weinstein.
While she has said her experiences weren't quite the same, JLaw did admit in an interview with CNN she has been 'mistreated' in Hollywood.
"When I hear the harrowing stories of the victims of Harvey Weinstein, I don't feel right putting myself in that exact category," the 27-year-old said, before adding, "I was certainly mistreated".
The Red Sparrow actress also reflected on her experiences in Hollywood when she was younger.
"I was definitely treated in a way we would now call abusive," JLaw admitted.
She revealed she did have some unwarranted touching and attention from Hollywood execs.
"I had to deal with being young and having executives putting their hands on my legs and not feeling like I could say, 'Please don't do that'," she added.
Last week, JLaw spoke out against Weinstein for naming her in his defense amidst his ongoing legal battles, after shocking claims of sexual assault and harassment emerged last year.
Weinstein reportedly mentioned a few of big Hollywood actresses including JLaw, Gwyneth Paltrow and Meryl Streep in court documents obtained by E! News.
These examples have been used in an attempt to dismiss a sexual misconduct legal case against him.
JLaw blasted Weinstein for using her name.
"Harvey Weinstein and his company are continuing to do what they have always done which is to take things out of context and use them for their own benefit," the 27-year-old said in a statement to the outlet. "This is what predators do, and it must stop."
The actress went on to explain while she wasn't 'victimised personally' by Weinstein, she fully supports all the women speaking out and taking a stand in the Time's Up movement.
"For the record, while I was not victimised personally by Harvey Weinstein, I stand behind the women who have survived this terrible abuse and I applaud them in using all means necessary to bring him to justice whether through criminal or civil actions. Time's up."
Since the first claims of sexual harassment and assault emerged in The New York Times and New Yorker in October last year, more than 50 women have come forward with their own accounts against Weinstein.
Weinstein has however denied the allegations of 'non-consensual' sexual activity.
