Indiana Jones 5 Is Happening Whether You Like It or Not

It's been nearly 7 years since the release of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and time hasn’t been kind to the fourth Indy film.

It’s now universally regarded as the worst instalment in the franchise so far but that hasn’t deterred the folks at LucasFilm from pressing on with a fifth film.

LucasFilm chief Kathleen Kennedy has confirmed Indiana Jones 5 is in active development at the studio telling Vanity Fair: “[a new Indiana Jones film] will one day be made inside this company. When it will happen, I’m not quite sure. We haven’t started working on a script yet, but we are talking about it.”

Kennedy produced all of the previous films in the series before LucasFilm and all of its intellectual properties including Star Wars, Indiana Jones, and Willow were bought by Disney in 2012.

She’s now the head of the studio and is currently overseeing the new Star Wars films including The Force Awakens, Rogue One, and Episodes XIII & IX for Disney.

Once The Force Awakens hits cinemas this December, you can expect the studio to turn its attention to the fifth Indiana Jones film which could be a continuation of the saga starring Harrison Ford (now 72) or a reboot with a new younger actor taking over the iconic whip and fedora.

Guardians of the Galaxy star Chris Pratt is rumoured to be the front runner to take over the role of the adventuring archaeologist, but we’d like to see Anthony Ingruber given the chance after seeing him play a young Harrison Ford in Age of Adaline.
