Every so often, though, one comes along THAT COMPLETELY REDEEMS the whole gimmick.

See Mashable’s crafty cut of the brilliantly stupid 1994 comedy Dumb and Dumber.

Turns out all that faux-gravitas among the gut-busting laughs conjured up by Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels makes for a fully believable two-minute preview of a very, very serious film.

The Academy may never nominate Jim Carrey - after getting snubbed for deserving turns in Eternal Sunshine, The Truman Show, and Man on the Moon (though he is a proud two-time Golden Globe winner) - but this is just more proof the guy knows how to bring the drama.
