WATCH: Freaky new trailer for Flatliners

It was one of the freakiest flicks of 1990, and now the death-cheating thriller Flatliners has been given a 2017 reboot. Check out the first trailer below!

The film follows a group of medical students led by Courtney (Ellen Page), who become obsessed with finding out more about near-death experiences.

To discover what happens in the afterlife, the gang stop each others’ hearts before reviving the person after a certain amount of time – but as they start to push the “death” time longer and longer, the side effects become even more crazy.

The group – Courtney and Marlo (Nina Dobrev), Jamie (James Norton), Ray (Diego Luna) and Sophia (Kiersey Clemons) – are haunted by terrifying visions as the line between life and death becomes increasingly blurred.

The flick acts as a sequel to the 1990 film, with original star Kiefer Sutherland even returning, but in a different role.

He was joined by Julia Roberts, William Baldwin, Oliver Platt and Kevin Bacon in the cult classic.

The new-look Flatliners is in cinemas September 28.
