Ricki-Lee reveals hubby is her toughest 'critic'
It's been three long years since we've heard anything new from Aussie sweetheart, Ricki-Lee Coulter.
Now the former Idol contestant is making a comeback with her single Not Too Late, and has revealed to Be, that her hubby Rich's 'brutal honesty' is behind her incredible new sound.
"Sometimes I would come home with just these empty, meaningless songs, and he [Rich] would be like, 'What are you doing? What does that even mean? What is that about? It’s not cutting it,' Ricki-Lee told Be exclusively, adding "He's harsh but it's great."
Ricki-Lee explained that the 'tough' feedback from her husband of two years Rich – who is also her manager – gave her the push she needed to write and embrace such a raw, emotional track and take a new direction, away from her usual dance sounds.
"He’s kind of the gauge of whether something is great or not," she said. "So once I came home with Not Too Late, he was like, ‘This is everything that I’ve been telling you to do,’ it was awesome."
When talking about the inspiration for the song, the platinum selling artists explained it came from experiencing the ups and downs of life.

"It’s one of those songs that I guess, I’ve always wanted to write and it’s finally, finally came out," the Burn It Down singer explained. "Really it’s everyone’s song, it’s not just mine."
The pop star added that she's super 'proud' of the powerful Not Too Late, which is on sale now.
