Lena calls Cersei a ‘horrible cow’

To celebrate the highly anticipated return of Game of Thrones next week, Net-A-Porter’s The Edit, has dedicated its cover to our favourite villain, Lena Headey.

The actress has starred in the HBO drama since it’s premiere in 2011 and fans have seen her character fall further from grace with every season in order to keep a Lannister on the throne.

Talking to the magazine, Lena makes some amazing revelations about her character Cersei and hints at what viewers can expect from her.

“This season coming, because she’s lost everything. Whatever was good [in her life] has been erased and she’s a horrible cow to one particular character…” she tells the publication. “It’s really quite loathsome.”

The 43-year-old also discussed her favourite Cersei moment, citing it as the now infamous scene when the widow blew up the Great Sept of Baelor and later enjoyed her wine.

As well as talking all things GoT, the mum-of-two opens up and shares her struggles of filming while battling postnatal depression.

“[Filming was] really horrendous – I was postnatally depressed but I didn’t know it. I saw a doctor for the medical check, and I just burst into tears [when] she said I was postnatally depressed,” she said.

Her brave admission was shared with her co-star Maisie (Arya Stark) who was conducting the interview for TheEdit.

Opening up, she goes on to explain that juggling life as a mum with filming was particularly tough: “I saw a great guy and he sorted me out, but I did the first year in that space, figuring out motherhood and going through a weird time personally. It was tricky.”

Lena also credits Maisie for the way she and her fellow child co-stars have handled the fame that has come with being in such a successful show.
