Australian Ninja Warrior slammed by viewers
Viewers raved about the show’s premiere on Sunday with some epic belly flopping, interesting Tarzan impersonations and a lot of abs.
But it seems Tuesday’s Australian Ninja Warrior didn’t have quite the same effect for viewers.
Contestants for the second instalment of the show included a Hollywood stuntman, Sheena the “fitness warrior”, Sam who lost his leg in a car accident and more.
What many viewers did not seem to appreciate was the amount of time allocated to explaining the contestants' “back stories”.
Some took to social media to point out that many of the contestants were extremely hyped up only to strike out almost immediately.
Back stories for someone that doesn't make it past the 2nd obstacle? Really?? #NinjaWarriorAU pic.twitter.com/RknQBxZX2j

The last 2 back stories have lasted longer than their attempt #NinjaWarriorAU

Between the ads and the back stories, I'm not sure theres much ninja action tonight #NinjaWarriorAU pic.twitter.com/eiNy1GTYmK

5 minutes of watching their boring back story, 5 seconds of them attempting the obstacles #NinjaWarriorAU

One viewer even pointed out how much more could be packed in “without all the wasted time on back stories”.
Think how many more runs we'd see without all the wasted time on backstories #NinjaWarriorAU

Some even said that Channel Nine was trying to make the action show like The Voice with all the back stories.
If you didn't show the backstories you could show all the competitors? Channel 9 trying to turn this into the voice. #NinjaWarriorAU pic.twitter.com/3dVT479sAi

Yo. #NinjaWarriorAU stop trying to be the voice. Loose the gimmicks and backstories. Show all the runners. Flintoff interviews ok but

However, there were still plenty of entertaining moments including more epic fails and also some brilliant successes.
Many viewers were quite savage on Twitter about some contestants who were “fitness bloggers” with one user even admitting the bigger someone was on social media “the more we want to see them fail”.
The bigger they are in social media, especially Instagram, the more we want to see them fail. #NinjaWarriorAU

Isn't "fitness blogger" just a euphemism for "hot chick who posts bikini photos on instagram"? #NinjaWarriorAU

Fitness blogger aka instagram photo taker. #NinjaWarriorAU
