Jessica Rowe opens up about being robbed at gunpoint

She was on the show to discuss today’s hot topics, but Jessica Rowe left her Studio 10 co-hosts stunned when she opened up about the time she’d been robbed at gunpoint.

The panellists were discussing an incident in Queensland where a pizza shop worker had been threatened with a gun, when the journalist and author said: "It happened to me".

Though Jessica has talked about the traumatic event in the past, it appeared to be something her fellow panellists weren’t aware of, with host Sarah Harris looking visibly surprised.

Describing how two young men with drug issues attacked her and her then-boyfriend, she detailed how they shoved them to the ground and stole her bag.

“One of them had a gun. It turned out to be a replica one – but he pointed it at my head and was swearing. It was horrific I will never forget that,” the 47-year-old said.

The hosts talked about how the victim of Queensland robbery was suffering with PTSD and hadn’t been able to work since, when Jessica - who appeared emotional - offered a piece of advice.

“I went to court with my mum because I wanted to see them and that helped me enormously,” she said. “I felt I needed to look that person in the face. It does make a difference and it helped me get through it.”
