Kate Middleton’s First Public Event in 2017
It’s a busy week for Kate Middleton. After just celebrating her 35th birthday earlier this week, today she attended her first public event in the new year. Donning a royal blue dress, the mother of two visited the Anna Freud Center for Children and Families.
Kate was spending time at the Early Years Parenting Unit to learn about the center’s work with families that have children under 5 years old. The Dutchess of Cambridge sat with mothers who spoke about treatment programs for families with a history of abuse and addiction.
Afterward, Kate said she sympathized and admired these women for trying to help. She said, “Parenting is tough. And with the history and all the things and the experiences you've all witnessed, to do that on top of your own anxieties, and the lack of support you also received as mothers...I find it extraordinary how you've managed actually. So really well done."
Kate and her husband Prince William are also scheduled to visit a Family Support Group session, which allows families in similar circumstances to talk to one another and share their feelings and memories.
