Speaking exclusively to Be the model shared her top tips on how everyone can find right sport luxe pieces to fit into the popular trend with ease, without looking like they've just stepped out of the gym.

“When you go to the gym you obviously have a pair of running shoes that you train in, so for me it’s mixing that up and mixing it with ‘Creepers’ or a really cool trainer," Nikki told Be at the opening of PUMA's new flagship store in Sydney.

"The leggings are fine, but maybe with an oversized shirt, a leather bomber or a denim jacket. When I go I work out so when go I’m in full spandex ready to get it going, so I think adding that element of sports luxe with a bomber or funky trainer gives it that definition of taking it to a street style active look rather than an actual workout. You just have to mix it.”

Although critics of the trend suggest all active wear should stay in the gym, Nikki believes it's a chance for all women to feel comfortable in their skin.

"I understand where they’re coming from but at the same time, in my line of business, as a woman we are constantly in high heels, we’re constantly being dressed up. I mean it’s great that we get the opportunity to dress up to that extent but in your downtime you do want to be comfortable and active wear is comfortable," she said.

"We all love it, there is nothing like some stretchy tights and comfortable flat shoes. I’m all for it, I think it’s great. Women should be proud of the way they look and if that’s how they want to look then go for it. I do understand the comments though and it is a hard line, I do love the active wear look, it’s my uniform now so I am not complaining!”

Nikki also shared her number one tip for finding the right active wear style before hitting the gym.

"My tip would be look for something that in funky but make sure it has all the elements – performance fabric, comfortable and supportive.”

"The good thing about PUMA is they have really good performance fabrics and high waists! No one likes to be doing a squat at the gym and the old ‘G’ comes out… No one likes to see it and no one likes the feeling of the air hitting that area so I really love the fact the leggings are high waisted," Nikki amusingly added.

"It fits all shapes and sized and I think that is really important because people just follow a trend and don’t actually think about support and being comfortable, they just go for something in a trend."

With summer fast approaching and everyone looking to get that perfect bikini body in time for the beach, the blogger added that it's important everyone find a routine that suits them in order to achieve the goal you set for yourself.

“We all have different schedules so the number on thing is finding the time that isn’t too hard for you because that is so off-putting. If you have a 6am call time to go to the gym, you’re not going to go and you’ll end up hating the gym so it's about working it into your daily schedule at a time that is going to suit you and a time you’re going to end up loving and wanting to go," Nikki said.

That was the hardest thing for me, I have a trainer 3 days a week at a gym and I think it’s because we have found a time that fits in my schedule. She makes it fun as well and I think it’s also about finding activities that really push your boundaries but not so you’re sitting there going ‘oh my god Im working out, I’m on my 50th squat’ and I think that is the key, fitting it in and finding whether it’s cardio, pilates, yoga or circuit training, finding something fun, different and that doesn’t make you bored.”

With model and actress Cara Delevingne the face of PUMA's new campaign, she joins the likes of Kylie Jenner and Rihanna who also have collections with the brand, and Nikki added it's hard to pick which collection are her favourite.

“Its so hard because I wear shoes from the Kylie Jenner range, but now we have Cara Delevingne as the latest campaign so it’s a triple trifecta. I’ve decided I’m just going to wear one of everything, one from every collection, support all three iconic girls."

"I’m loving the new Rihanna Fenty collection because it’s such a cool mix of sport luxe and it’s really taking it to the next level, she is so creative. To be honest, you can find me in the new Rihanna Fenty collection 24/7!”
