An Australian sexuality expert has made headlines around the world after urging parents to ask their baby for consent before changing their nappies.
In a TV interview that’s gone viral on social media, sexuality expert Deanne Carson revealed how she was working with parents to set up a “culture of consent” in homes.
The ABC interview saw Deanne give an example of how parents should be asking their newborns for consent.
“I’m going to change your nappy now, is that okay?” she said.
“Of course a baby is not going to respond ‘Yes mum, that’s awesome. I’d love to have my nappy changed.’
“But if you leave a space, and wait for body language, and wait to make eye contact, then you’re letting that child know that their response matters.”
The internet soon lit up with parents mocking the bizarre claims, with even outspoken British TV personality Piers Morgan throwing his two cents in.
