Women are being handed fat-shaming cards while on the Tube in London, which feature nasty comments about their weight and appearance.

The shocking postcards, which claim to be from the group Overweight Haters Ltd, have now been shared all over social media, with many speculating that it could be a social media stunt gone horribly wrong.

One woman to receive a torrent of abuse from the hateful group was 30-year-old Kara Florish, from Southend-on-Sea, who was minding her own business on her usual commute when she was handed a card, which read: “It’s really not glandular, it’s your gluttony.”

The card went on to say that the group "hates and resents fat people" and "object to enormous amounts of food while the rest of the world starves".

Writing on Facebook, Ms Florish said she was not upset by the card and was actually "smaller than the national average and not exactly obese."

However she said she is worried it could lead to eating disorders among other women who are targets of the group.

Another male witness of the abuse took to Twitter to say he had witnessed a woman being handed the hate-pamphlet as the group exited the train.

He said she read it and then cried.

"Her stunned, desolate reaction was very real. Then tears," his Twitter post read.

It's understood police are investigating the incidents.
