Marie Claire covergirl Ruby Rose opens up about Taylor Swift

Considering she was papped rubbing shoulders with most of Hollywood’s young A-list on Tuesday, marie claire seemingly couldn’t have chosen a better time to feature Ruby Rose on their cover.

The 30-year-old beauty, who appears in a red and white striped top on the August edition of the fashion glossy, made world headlines this week when she was photographed at Taylor Swift’s annual 4th of July party.

The duo, who became fast friends last year, have made no secret of their admiration for one another, with Swift presenting Rose with a surprise GLAAD award in April.

“I was unbelievably in awe of the fact that I was even considered for the award. And to have Taylor - one of my best friends - surprise me, saying what she thinks I’ve done to inspire young people, it meant everything. It was surreal,” said Rose, adding that Swift is “one of the most amazing and kind people I know.”

The award was just one of the amazing things that’s happened to Rose of late – she’s now a regular on the hit Netflix show Orange Is The New Black, playing Litchfield inmate Stella Carlin. But while she seemingly burst on to the scene in the USA, Rose admits it was a long time in the making.

“There’s a saying,” says Ruby. “Every overnight success is 15 years in the making. Mine is actually 15 years to the day!”

Rose isn't the only A-lister to feature in marie claire's 'Rising Star's edition, with Shanina Shaik and Elizabeth Debicki also nabbing their own subscriber covers.

The August edition of marie claire is out today.
