People are fuming over Khloé Kardashian’s expensive new denim line
Following weeks of heavy promotion on social media, Khloé Kardashian’s new denim line, Good American, finally launched on Tuesday. The collection, designed with the belief that “fashion should be made to fit women, not the other way around,” is for those of all shapes and sizes.

The line offers denim in sizes 0 to 24 in three different styles — “Good Legs,” a skinny style; “Good Cuts,” a boyfriend version; and “Good Waist,” a high-wasted silhouette. The jeans are being sold exclusively on the Good American website and at select Nordstrom stores.
Although the brand is built off inclusivity and acceptance, many customers have taken issue with the high prices that range from $205 to $280.
Since the launch, the reality star’s Instagram channel has been hit with angry customers venting their frustrations over the steep prices. “They’re amazing jeans, but US$169? 205? I’d figure if you wanted to help all women you wouldn’t make them so expensive,” Kristin Dannielle commented on a post.
Another user commented, “Really not affordable for normal down to earth people that can’t spend that kind of money on jeans it’s sad because we admire you very much I would have loved to get my hands on a pair but unfortunately I don’t just have $200 dollars laying around.”
Customers also took to Twitter to voice their complaints.

On Nordstrom.com, Good American is one of the most expensive plus-size denim companies in stock. In fact, it’s the only one that offers styles above $260. Other brands offering plus-size denim styles that fall just below Good American prices include Mynt 1792, Eileen Fisher, and James Jeans. Brands like City Chic, Caslon, Melissa McCarthy Seven7, and SLINK jeans are much more affordable, offering multiple styles under $130.
Despite the criticism over lack of affordability, many fans seem to respect Khloé for delving into the plus-size denim industry.
“I love the style and I love the fact that Khloe is promoting this for the curvy girls, but these prices I can’t get with. I was so excited to order because they have some of my favorite bloggers like @gabifresh and @nadiaaboulhosn but as a college student I can’t financially spend US$200 on a pair of jeans when I could buy a textbook. Good concept, bad prices unfortunately,” Erykah Patton commented on Kardashian’s post.
Kardashian explained that she created the collection because she feels that the denim industry lacks styles inclusive to all body types, especially women of curvy stature.
“Whenever we bought new jeans, it was hard for us to find a pair that fit our body types, and even when we did they’d always need alterations. We knew if we both had this problem, there must be tons of girls who did too. So we set out to make a denim line that’s sexy and flattering, and made to fit you — not the other way round,” Kardashian said on her and co-founder Emma Grede’s incentive to tap into the denim industry.
Good American denim is still available on the website and hasn’t sold out as of Wednesday morning.
