The 12.03 carat stunner, which was found at a mine in South Africa, works out to be around AU $5.58 million per carat.

"This show-stopping blue diamond surely is a once-in-a-lifetime stone," David Bennett, Sotheby's worldwide chairman of jewelry, said in a statement.

If you're frothing at the mouth that a seven-year old now owns the diamond, rest assured she has another one to back it up in case she tires of it - a $40 million pink diamond aptly named Sweet Josephine.
