The Top Trends From The David Jones A/W 2016 Launch
David Jones has always promoted a close association with the arts, but last night’s autumn/winter show took things to a whole new level.

While famous faces including Catherine McNeil, Jessica Gomes, Montana Cox and Jesinta Campbell strutted their stuff down the runway, dancers from the Sydney Dance Company ducked and weaved their way around the models, giving the show a dynamic, uplifting feel.
But it wasn’t just the entertainment, which also included an ode to David Bowie’s ‘Life on Mars’, that had guests transfixed.
With more than 230 looks on display, there’s something for everyone next season. Zimmermann introduced a shorter hemline than season’s past, while Bec & Bridge lowered theirs. The sharp tuxedo jacket made its mark at Camilla and Marc, while slouchy sweaters reigned at Sabatini.
“There’s a distinct Victoriana thread through this collection – a lot of high necklines, lace and tailored pieces. I’m also loving the burgundy hues and the long overcoats,” Gomes told Yahoo7 Lifestyle.
And while the VIP guests were dressed in black, David Jones is slyly feeding a smattering of colour back into the store’s monochrome palette.
There were deep scarlets at Camilla and Marc, signature patterns at Camilla and soft pinks at Ginger & Smart.

But monochrome lovers need not freak out – black, white and grey were the dominant threads throughout the show.
“David Jones really cater to their customers and they like to stock the trends that they know their customers will like,” explains Gomes.
