They’re the first father daughter pole dancing duo to perform together, and viewers weren’t exactly fans when Hazel Roberts and her dad Dave took to TV screens to show off their skills.
Hazel, 24, and her 50-year-old dad performed on UK show This Morning, showing off a slew of acrobatic antics in front of hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford.
But while Eamonn was impressed with the pair – who compete in doubles tournaments - claiming it was “like watching Spiderman”, some viewers took issue with the duo.
It's not just because it's a father and daughter. Pole dancing with any family member would be weird. I wouldn't do it with my sisters. Some things you don't do with family! #ThisMorning— Brittany (@BrittanyD1996) January 2, 2018
Really weird , actually making me cringe. #fatherAndDaughter#PoleAct creepy . They could still do pole dancing, just not together! #ThisMorning— diane lloyd (@ladydvl) January 2, 2018
Nah sorry, nothing you say is going to make me think that pole dancing with your Dad is okay #ThisMorning— Brittany (@BrittanyD1996) January 2, 2018
It’s something that Dave and Hazel don’t appear to be phased by.
The father daughter duo have been pole dancing together for years after Hazel began pole dancing six years ago, at the same time Dave was encouraged to attend a class by his ex-girlfriend.
The dad-of-five initially kept his hobby under wraps for fear of being ridiculed by friends and family but when Hazel returned from university, they began going to classes together.
They were eventually persuaded to appear on TV talent show Britain’s Got Talent - which resulted in their act being branded too “weird” by judges, in 2015.
Despite the criticism, they are now preparing to open a studio with 14ft poles, in Gloucestershire in the UK.
