Fergie and Prince Andrew still live together despite divorcing 22 years ago

They may have divorced 22 years ago, but Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew are still living with each other.

The royal couple, who split in 1992 and have two children together, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, are still housemates at Royal Lodge, in Windsor.

The Queen Mother lived at the residence for 70 years until her death in 2002, and Prince Andrew moved in officially in 2004.

It’s believed Fergie and their two kids joined the Duke of York in 2008 and has been living there ever since.

“Sarah Ferguson still rules the roost at the Duke’s home — even though they’re divorced,” a source previously told The Sun.

The Duchess of York, who is now 58-years-old, also previously revealed in an interview with KIIS FMs Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson that she and Prince Andrew get along famously and are like passing ships in the night sometimes.

“I’m in and out all the time and he’s in and out all the time,” she said.

“He is the finest man in my life – he is a nugget of goodness. I threw myself into a love affair for life.”

The Duchess has gushed about Prince Andrew in the past, telling Hello! magazine that they ‘support each other emotionally’ and ‘health wide’.

“At least every two weeks we sit down and communicate, the four of us,” she said.

Their love story

Sarah Ferguson and Prince Andrew are rumoured to have had their first encounter at the Guards Polo Club when they were both kids.

It’s thought they lost contact soon after and were then reintroduced by Princess Diana in 1985, with Sarah Ferguson reportedly getting close to the princess because her dad was Prince Charles’ polo manager.

After a short year of dating, Buckingham Palace announced that 26-year-old navy office Prince Andrew had popped the question to 26-year-old Sarah Ferguson.

The couple gave an interview where a clearly ecstatic Fergie revealed that her ruby red engagement ring was chosen to match her hair.

On the 23rd of July, 1986, 500 million people all over the world tuned into their TVs to watch the couple tie the knot at Westminster Abbey.

Guests included US First Lady Nancy Regan and UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, as well as the Princess Diana and the rest of the royal family.

Fergie and Prince Andrew enjoyed years of wedded bliss, welcoming Princess Beatice into the world in 1988 and Prince Eugenie in 1990.

Split announcement

However, Buckingham Palace released a statement in 1993 announcing that the Duke and Duchess of York were splitting.

“In view of the media speculation which the Queen finds especially undesirable during the general election campaign, Her Majesty is issuing the following statement,” the statement read.

“Last week, lawyers acting for the Duchess of York initiated discussions about a formal separation for the Duke and Duchess.

“These discussions are not yet completed and nothing will be said until they are.”

After their separation, Fergie revealed she was heavily in debt and told Hello! magazine that if it wasn’t for Prince Andrew’s kindness, she would have been ‘homeless’.

Scandals

The duchess was also involved in many scandals, including the release of a photograph which showed her toe appearing to be sucked by Texas financial advisor, John Bryan, while she was wearing a bikini and lounging in a deck chair.

She was also accused of offering a publication access to Prince Andrew in return for $875,000 in 2010.

However, through it all the Duke and Duchess appear to have kept on amicable terms and have been pictured together throughout the years at family events, including Princess Eugenie’s first day at school and at Princess Beatrice’s graduation in 2010.

They have even had to dodge questions about whether or not they were thinking of remarrying, due to the fact they are always spotted out together and still live in the same home.

Princess Eugenie’s wedding

And with Princess Eugenie’s wedding just mere weeks away, it’s thought the duo will sit right beside each other to watch their little girl walk down the aisle.

The 28-year-old is set to say ‘I do’ to Jack Brooksbank on October 12th at St. George’s Chapel in Windsor Castle.

1,200 members of the public have been invited to witness the couple say their vows and watch the rest of the royal family arrive at the church.
