5 chefs reveal their ultimate Netflix and chill meals
Chefs are notorious for working anywhere between 50 to 70 hours per week.
It’s certainly not the most glamorous job in the world, despite how some celebrity chefs on TV may portray it.
Cheffing is gruelling, hot and sweaty and requires some serious stamina standing on your feet all day.
When chefs do get the chance to chill, you’ll find most of them plonked on the couch with their swollen feet up, watching their favourite show on Netflix with a bowl of their ultimate comfort food in hand.

Be asked five renowned Aussie chefs what their ultimate Netflix and chill meals were, and this is what they had to say:
Lennox Hastie - Head Chef and founder of Firedoor, Sydney
Since Hastie plays with fire all day long, it’s no surprise he likes to take it down a notch and dig into something simple. While watching “Michael Pollen’s Cooked” on Netflix, you’ll find Hastie tucking into a comforting bowl of “orecchiette con cime di rapa” - aka pasta with broccoli rabe.
David Lovett - Head Chef at Beach, Byron Bay
A warming plate of pasta seems like the go when it comes to kicking off those shoes and switching on the telly.
For Merivale chef Lovett, who currently resides in the lovely Byron Bay, it’s "spaghettini, tomato, preserved tuna, capers and anchovies” that does it for him.
“It’s a family favourite,” he says. “That or my girlfriend Sarah's rogan josh!! Both warm the cockles of your heart.”
Will Cowper - Head Chef at OTTO Ristorante, Brisbane
“What is Netflix?” Um is he serious? Do you live in the 21st century?
To be fair, Cowper probably never sees the light of day given his busy schedule, so we’ll give him the benefit of the doubt this time.
Chris Bonello, MPD Steak Kitchen, Berwick, Victoria
When perched on the couch with the remote in hand, the former Vue Group chef has a taste for “Thai chicken curry with lots of rice and roti bread.” That and Netflix certainly sound like a match made in heaven.
Hugo Diaz - Lady Carolina, East Brunswick, Melbourne
When he’s away from the pumping Peruvian eatery, you’ll find Diaz and his massive bowl of buttery popcorn sinking into the couch. “It’s one of my favourite things,” the chef admits.
