Listen up, bacon lovers.

Everyone is talking about this menu item up for grabs at Melbourne’s Third Wave Café for the month of September... a bacon layer cake.

It features bacon weaves, mac & cheese, Monterey Jack cheese, burger patties, sweet potato, more bacon weaves, more mac & cheese, pulled brisket and more bacon.

A slice of the mega meat cake is served with a side of candied bacon, an oink bowl (that's a meatball wrapped in bacon) and topped with bacon floss and BBQ and cheese sauces … all for $25.

Ooooo bacon!
Ooooo bacon!

The café is known for its monthly bacon special – they’ve previous done the bacon taco shell and a burger with a bacon-wrapped beef pattie.

Greg from Third Wave Café in Melbourne says the idea came from his 15-year-old daughter.

“She loves bacon,” Greg told Be.

“She saw us doing the monthly bacon special and said ‘what about a bacon cake?’

“It always takes a few times (to get it right). We are like a research and developer kitchen these days.”

Of course social media loves the bacon creation. And why not? Everything’s better with a little bacon.
