Blogger’s budget hacks to create Australia's most beautiful pantry

For most people, it’s somewhere to throw your groceries in to keep them out of the way.

Not for Adelaide blogger Iryna Federico, whose perfectly organised, pretty-in-pastels pantry was a two-year labour of love that started before she even started building her home with husband Dom.

“I started the design for my walk in pantry about a year before our builder even thought about putting down a foundation,” Iryna wrote on her From Great Beginnings blog.

“I made lists upon lists of what people keep in a pantry and took photos of the inside of ‘real’ pantries everywhere I went because I was determined not to miss anything and not have a spot for it.”

The 26-year-old enlisted the help of a local cabinet maker for her bespoke pantry, and admits her pale pink Kitchen Aid was the starting point for her theme.

Hitting up affordable homewares stores such as IKEA, Kmart and Costco, Iryna planned her space – which she calls her “command centre” - so everything had a particular home.

“I hate clutter and I hate packaging even more,” Iryna told the Daily Mail.

“My primary storage solution includes the Pluggis baskets from IKEA.”

Iryna stuck to a strict budget, purchasing $4 spice racks from the Swedish store, but admits she splurged on OXO pop containers from Costco.

She also bought $3 hanging pots from Kmart along with three-tier shelves and tilt jars, which she hacked by spraying with paint to match her colour theme.

“Everyone is always very pleasantly surprised that you can get them from Kmart and they only cost $4 each,” she told Better Homes and Gardens.

All up, the perfectly organised pantry has set Iryna back $2855 – but the blogger has no regrets.

“Loving my pastel kingdom of a pantry,” she wrote on Instagram.
