Are you as obsessed with Japanese cuisine as we are?

If so, you'll love these three how-to videos on making the ultimate Japanese lunch. Irasshaimase!

Sushi, gyoza and ramen are our holy trinity of dishes and we’ve had a couple of experts weigh in on the perfect accompanying drinks.

Sushi

Sushi lends itself well to cold beer, but also to sake.

Ippudo Central Park spokesman Sho Yoshimura says sake is an integral part of Japanese dining. “Its subtle sweetness from rice provides the perfect precursor to any dish,” he says. “Good sake should have a smooth texture and a pleasant aftertaste that brings out the foods’ flavours.”

Gyoza

Gyoza, or Japanese dumplings, are typically made from pork mince, chives, onion, cabbage and garlic and can be grilled, poached or fried. But you’re really only limited in your imagination in what you put inside!

Anthony Kaplan, executive chef of Bondi’s The Corner House, says his favourite is a simple combo of prawn, pork mince and herbs, teamed with a punchy dipping sauce. Yum!

Kaplan says the perfect drink to wash down gyoza is a crisp a Asahi.

Ramen

This Japanese noodle-soup dish is delicious no matter what time of the day! Each region of Japan has its own twist on the recipe, but it usually contains either a soy or miso broth, sliced pork, dried seaweed and various other toppings. This chicken ramen is sure to appeal to most palettes.
