Food store launches croissant-loaf hybrid, the ‘croloaf’

Have you ever been in a dilemma in the mornings where you need to choose between eating toast or gorging on a croissant?

Well now that will never be a problem again as British food chain store Marks & Spencer have developed a hybrid between both bread and a croissant, called the 'croloaf'.

The entire loaf consists of 1,000 calories, however an average slice is 114 calories, a lot less calories than eating a croissant on its own, which is about 350 calories.

Despite being made with butter and egg pastry, the 'croloaf' doesn't need to be eaten on the same day as it's bought and according to M&S it's even better a few days later, as long as it's toasted and not eaten fresh.

The food chain was supposedly inspired to create the hybrid loaf after visiting artisan bakeries in the US and decided to bring the idea back to the UK.

M&S bakery spokeswoman Sadia Usman said: "Our croissant loaf is perfect for those who like the convenience of grabbing a slice of toast for breakfast but love the delicious buttery taste of croissants.

"Now they don't have to compromise and can enjoy the best of both. "We know our customers really enjoy trying new foods and we travel around the world looking for new ideas that we can bring to their dinner tables.

"We're really excited about our latest creation, which is the perfect fusion of French and British breakfast."

The loaf costs £2.40 to buy and now we just need to convince the chain to open up a food store here in Australia so we can try it out.
