Inside former cricket captain Steve Smith's country wedding

It’s been six months since Steve Smith came under fire for the role he played in the ball-tampering scandal that rocked Australian cricket.

However, it seems things are looking up for the 29-year-old former captain, who tied the knot with his love Dani Willis, 27, over the weekend.

The couple’s afternoon ceremony took place at Bendooley Estate in Berrima, NSW – about a two hour drive from Sydney – where family and friends gathered for pictures in front of the idyllic lake views.

Sharing the news on Instagram, Steve couldn’t help but gush over his glowing bride as posted a beautiful black and white photo of them together.

“Today I got to marry my best friend. What an absolutely incredible day. @Dani_Willis looked unbelievably beautiful,” Steve wrote.

Dani – who shared the same adorable shot to her own Instagram – was dressed in a plunging beaded couture gown by Australian Designers J’Aton Couture.

During the reception, at The Stables the bride then changed into her party dress that was a mini 80’s style version of her gown with accentuated shoulders.

The pair – who have been together for over six years – got engaged while on holidays last year, with Steve getting down on one knee while at the top of Rockefeller Center in New York City.

In attendance at the special occasion was fellow cricket players, Nathan Lyon, Usman Khawaja, Mitch Marsh, Moises Henriques, Pat Cummins and Aaron Finch.
