A farmer arrested for shooting dead a suspected burglar in a remote farmhouse has been named locally as Robert Lomas. He was today (Fri) still being quizzed by detectives over the shooting of Marcus Smith, 19, during the second break-in at his property in less than 10 hours. Smith's mum Kerry, 51, uploaded a photo of her with her son on social media which prompted an outpouring of sympathy from well-wishers. One wrote: "I’m truly heartbroken. Sending love to you all." Another said: "We are so shocked and so heartbroken, nothing can express how deeply sorry we are."
The 69-year-old mother of four babies who were found dead in a freezer in the US city of Boston will not face criminal charges. District attorney Kevin Hayden called the investigation "one of the most complex, unusual and perplexing that this office has ever encountered".
