Wearing a big, beautiful wedding dress is all well and good - but what happens when you stop just posing for pictures and actually need to go to the toilet?

Trying to get up underneath all those layers could steal precious dancing time away from you, or end in accidents! Thankfully, one woman is here to save future brides from wedding day toilet-related disasters.

Panicking before her wedding that she'd struggle to be able to go to the toilet in her mermaid wedding dress, this bride took a pair of scissors to an Ikea bag and created a new accessory for the day.

She wrote on Facebook:

"Well, I got married a few weeks ago (in a mermaid wedding dress) and I was really worried about going to the bathroom and not being able to … handle myself. Someone helping or watching me going to the bathroom on my wedding day? Not being able to have free hands to use the toilet paper? Or even worse if my period decides to show? NO WAY!

"My bridal bathroom helper hack costs about 0.80 euro and I did it the day before my wedding. It took only 3 minutes. What I like best is it’s almost free and allows me to make my life easier on my wedding day. So here is the hack."

Basically, cut a whole in the bottom of an Ikea bag, then pull up the bag catching all your dress as you go. Hook your arms through the straps and voila! You can wee in peace!

The internet being the internet did have a few questions such as: WHY IS SHE WEARING BLACK PANTS ON HER WEDDING DAY THOUGH?!

But it also led to a load of other brides sharing their tips for peeing happily in a wedding dress. One wrote: "I just took mine off in the hotel room before going the toilet. I don't really drink so I only had to go a few times throughout the day".

Another suggested: "I've been advised that it is easier when wearing a wedding dress to use the loo facing backwards! May need someone to hold up the skirt but possibly a little more private."

And another shared: "My dress was huge with a very long train. I was commando for the reception and I lifted the front of my dress and sat on it front ways if that makes sense. I didn't have any help once to go to the loo."

Or if none of that sounds good you could try buying this clever gizmo:
