A family claim their teenage son's bedroom is being haunted by a 'growling' ghoul.
Niall Day was taking some selfies to update his social media profile at his house in Preston, Lancashire, in the UK and posted it online without a second thought.
But the 17-year-old student was left freaked out when his nan Lynn Peters, pointed out that he wasn't quite alone in his own profile picture.
The eerie image shows Niall in the foreground, but behind him is a dark figure at the back of the room that he believes has the face of an 'old man', complete with two eyes and a nose staring at the camera.
Parents Gary and Charlotte also claim the family home has been haunted for years, with the ghost 'reacting to family members moving things around', growling, groaning and appearing as a black shadow over Niall's bed like in the hit 2008 film Insidious.
"The haunting started when we moved in – I think that was about five or six years ago. I think it's the same ghost,” Niall said.
"One time I woke up during the night and it was just sat there in the corner of my room growling at me.
"It was like the film Insidious. When I turned off the lights it just groaned and I could see a black shadow. It was just like the film.
"I remember just screaming for my Dad and it just kept appearing and disappearing.
"There is clearly a ghostly presence here and it doesn't like you moving stuff around the house.”
And it's not just Niall who believes the house has an unwelcome guest.
His mum and dad are convinced that something lurks within Niall's room in particular.
"The house has been haunted but nothing has happened for a long time,” Niall’s dad, Garry said.
"Before I saw that picture of Niall I'd just didn't really believe it completely.
"But we've had people around the street walking past saying that Niall's room has been haunted for years.
"That photo is a freaky thing because you can see there's somebody there."
Niall's mum Charlotte agreed and said she was “horrified” when she saw the picture.
"This is the first time I've seen anything in pictures before. It's just so scary because it looks like an old man staring at you,” she said.
"The house must be haunted."
