The 2017 Golden Globes hosted by Jimmy Fallon came to a close last night, and the big winners of the night were ‘La La Land’ which claimed Screenplay, Actor, Actress, Director, and Best Comedy/Musical Picture awards. Moonlight took home Best Motion Picture. The night got off to a rocky start after the teleprompter was not working when Jimmy Fallon took the stage, which he joked about Mariah Carey and claimed once again that her NYE performance producers are were to blame. ‘La La Land’ follows Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling in a Los Angeles-based musical about Hollywood dreamers, and Moonlight shows us what its like to grow up and become a man in Miami. One of the heartfelt moments of the night was Ryan Gosling’s acceptance speech, calling attention to his wife Eva Mendes, their two children, and Mendes' brother who passed away this year after battling cancer. Gosling praised her for her ability to raise their children and take care of her brother while he was away making the film. Other highlights include Meryl Streep’s Cecile B Demile Lifetime Acheivement award and acceptance speech, as well as Viola Davis’ tribute to her.
