Harry and Meghan’s 21-room palace upgrade
Just like any newly wedded couple, Prince Harry and wife-to-be Meghan Markle seem eager to have their own space.
The couple currently share a two-bedroom cottage on the grounds of Kensington Palace – which has long been Harry’s bachelor pad – but renovations are apparently underway to seriously upgrade their living arrangements.
Following their May 19 wedding, the pair are said to be moving into the impressive 21-room Apartment 1 on the west side of the palace.
The apartment, which was previously occupied by the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester, is currently under renovations in preparation for Harry and Meghan, who have made it no secret that they are keen to start a family in the near future.
“He keeps popping round and asking when it will be ready. He seems in a real hurry to move in with Meghan,” a source told the Daily Mail.
Builders have been rapidly working on the roof of the apartment, which has been strategically covered in sheets during the renovation.
Meanwhile, the Gloucesters have agreed to downsize since their children are all grown up. The Sun also reported that the pair have two other properties they could retreat to; Barnwell Manor in Northamptonshire, and a weekend cottage in Gloucestershire.
The move will also see Harry and Meghan become closer neighbours with his brother William, wife Kate and their growing family, who occupy the 20-room Apartment 1A.
And if they’re taking a leaf from Will and Kate’s book, who also lived at Nottingham Cottage before they started a family, it seems we have something to look forward to.
Wouldn’t it be absolutely adorable for two sets of royal children to grow up next door to each other?
