Sex and the City fans' dreams of a third film instalment were broken last year after Kim Cattrall insisted she "didn't want to do a 3rd film."
But now Sarah Jessica Parker may have just hinted a third movie could go ahead without the presence of Samantha.
On Sunday SJP posted a suss clip on Instagram of a Sex and the City 3 t-shirt with Carrie, Charlotte and Miranda on it but no sign of Samantha.
In the caption the 52-year-old thanked Hilton Dresden, who made the tee, for the "amazing t-shirt".
By SJP posting this on social media, could this a sign the girls are moving forward as a trio for a potential SATC3?
Many fans noticed the absence of Samantha on the front of the tee.
"Dear Sarah Jessica, where is Samantha Jones?" one commenter asked.
"Where's Samantha?! Shady," another said while someone else insisted, "Kim IS the sex."
However, some fans encouraged the franchise moving on without Kim's presence as Samantha.
"The role of Samantha would be missed, but as long as her exit is done respectfully, why not?" a fan wrote in support of SATC3. "Life goes [on], and there are new adventures to be had!"
"Kim Cattrall has no interest to be in the third one if it happens so it would make no sense to include her in the pic," another pointed out.
Last year, SJP made her disappointment vocal about Kim's refusal to sign on to the third film.
"It’s over. We’re not doing it. I'm disappointed," the actress told Extra. "We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story."
"It’s not just disappointing that we don’t get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie," she added.
Not taking the comments lying down, Kim spoke to Piers Morgan saying she couldn't understand why her co-star couldn't have been "nicer".
"Me playing [Samantha], that I can assure you will never happen," she told the British journalist. "This isn’t about more money, this is not about more scenes, it’s not about any of those things. This is about a clear decision, an empowered decision in my life to end one chapter and start another. I’m 61. It’s now."
"I just wish that Sarah had been nicer. I don’t know what her issue is; I never have," Kim said.
Sources told Daily Mail last week that the reason SATC3 had come to a halt was because the production studio refused to cater to Kim's "demands", however Kim refuted the reports on social media, saying she was never signed on in the first place.
If SATC3 does go ahead, it's safe to say we'll miss Samantha dearly.
As that one fan said, she is the sex of the film, no offence to the other ladies, of course.
