In a romantic twist of fate, one US couple has realised that their paths had crossed 16 years before they even met.

And they have the video to prove it.

Husband and wife Jourdan and Ryan Spencer were watching Jourdan’s childhood home movies, including a 1988 trip to these park Sesame Place, when they saw a familiar face.

The video, which is doing the rounds on social media, shows Jourdan’s mother and sister waiting for her to return from a waterslide when 13-year-old Ryan walks into the frame.

“I was kind of joking around and said, ‘Wow, that looks like me,’” Ryan told ABC News. “And sure enough it was.”

The couple, who first officially met on a blind date in 2004 and married in 2007, had been telling friends the story for years but thought the video was lost until a few weeks ago. “We had told people about it but couldn’t prove it,” Jourdan said.

Now, they have proof that their marriage was meant to be.

“Life is more than just randomness. There s a reason that people cross paths,” said Ryan, who has three children with Jourdan.

Adds Jourdan, “We do really believe that people come into our lives, and every person we meet has a purpose… Ad we definitely were supposed to meet.”
