After years of asking for a younger sibling, Mikey Marotta’s dream came true a few months ago.
His mother shared a heartwarming video (above) of the six-year-old’s first time meeting his little brother on Instagram earlier this month and our hearts are melting.
Newborn Jake was born prematurely back in March, which meant Mikey had to wait over a week before he was able to hold his little brother.
But when the time came for Mikey to embrace his younger sibling his mother, Jessica Marotta, couldn’t believe how emotional the moment was “without tears”.

“When he started holding Jake he just giggled, it was a nervous giggle,” the mum of two told People. “He blinked a lot because he was really emotional.
“It was probably one of the most emotional things I’ve ever seen without tears because he was so happy at the same time.”
For years Mikey had been begging his parents for a little sibling, but Jessica was left “heartbroken” after suffering a miscarriage when she was 11 weeks pregnant in January 2017.
Just eight months later, Jessica and her husband Michael found out she was expecting again, but held off telling Mikey until she reached the 12 week mark.
But when he found out he was going to be a big brother he was “very teary-eyed and excited”.
Jake was born prematurely in March weighing just 0.8kg remaining in intensive neonatal care for 62 days.
Jake is now a happy and healthy baby and Mikey can’t get enough of his little brother.
“I truly think that they will be close for the rest of their lives,” Jessica said.
