The hotel oasis in the heart of the Gold Coast
It’s got a reputation for being bold, brash, buzzy and full of beautiful people.
For those who aren’t keen on that kind of getaway, the Gold Coast might not spring to mind when it comes to a quick little weekend away.
But those looking for a foodie’s paradise with idyllic secluded nature spots just a short drive away should reconsider, because the Gold Coast is building a serious reputation for the holiday hotspot with something for everyone.
It’s something Hollywood A-listers can vouch for, with everyone from Blake Lively to Thor stars Chris Hemsworth and Tom Hiddleswift big fans of the GC scene after making it their temporary home while filming.
Want to have the same experience as the stars when you’re sunning yourself?
Head to Broadbeach, which is right in the thick of things, and just a short morning stumble to No Name Lane, the cafe where Blake sipped the “best coffee I’ve ever had”, and Social Eating House where Tom did a quick takeaway run while he was holed up with then-girlfriend Taylor Swift in 2016.
With high-rises dominating the beach sky, it can be a little confusing to figure out where to rest your head, but Be spent a few nights at the Avani Broadbeach and loved every second.
If feeling cooped up in a tiny hotel room is your idea of holiday hell, the Avani offers the feel of a roomy beach pad without the claustrophobic hotel vibe.
Spacious rooms and balconies that front the beach will give you the sense of peace, with the bustle of restaurants and shops below (the monstrous shopping centre Pacific Fair is just a few minutes walk away) mean you’re not too far from the action.
Even better, the rooms come equipped with a kitchen and coffee maker for those who want to chill out for hours on end, go for swims in the sparkling pool down below, or simply sunbake.
For those wanting even more peace and quiet, the beautifully tranquil Burleigh Head National Park is just a 15 minute drive away, while it’s a half hour journey to the infamous Currumbin Rock Pools, and a little bit further to the even more secluded Cougal Cascades.
For those who don’t want to venture far, take in the kilometres of Gold Coast beach, or stop in at one of the typically Australian surf lifesaving clubs along the way for a very affordable glass of sparkling and priceless view (our pick is Nobby’s Beach).
Be stayed as a guest of Avani Broadbeach.
