One item Lisa Wilkinson always carries as she often 'feels unsafe'

Following the murder of Melbourne-based comedian Eurydice Dixon last month, Lisa Wilkinson has revealed there is a specific item she carries on her keychain at all times.

The Project presenter admitted in a recent interview with Confidential that she always has a whistle on her key ring due to feeling “unsafe often”.

However, luckily the 58-year-old has not ever had to use the whistle.

“I’ve never had to use it but this is all about that one moment when you might be the one that gets picked on because every single moment one of those women whose names we know like Eurydice Dixon – all of these women were chosen at random,” Lisa explained to the publication.

Whilst the television host’s whistle remains unused, she recently had a moment in a supermarket car park where she had her keys “splayed between [her] fingers” just in case.

“They didn’t do anything wrong, but all it takes is one madman to target you and you want to know you have everything in place to defend yourself,” she explained.

Last month on The Project, Lisa fought back tears as she responded to a police statement about safety for women in the aftermath of Eurydice Dixon’s death.

“This might upset some people but, honestly, parents, instead of telling our girls not to walk through parks, maybe we should be telling our boys not to rape them,” she said.

The host also drew upon a famous quote from Margaret Atwood in her emotional piece to camera, “Men are afraid that women will laugh at them. Women are afraid that men will kill them.”
